Letter to the Editor
Bottle bill prevents landfills
I am writing referring to the Bottle Bill.
I really believe it should be expanded because it would save our trash places from filling up, as well as our landfills from filling up.
I definitely recycle. I do all the cans that we receive a nickel for, and then I even go one step further and get my neighbors’ other bottles, which they can then redeem in May.
I am absolutely in favor of expanding the Bottle Bill because it’s ludicrous to not expand the recycling into other bottles like the plastic water bottle because clearly they have come to dominate the market.
It’s counterproductive to simply have those thrown to the side of the road where many of them end up.
Maine has done it, and I think the other states should follow suit.
