Bottle bill requires much consideration (Opinion)

August 22, 2011 We got an amazing number of calls and emails commenting on last week’s column, primarily on the animal abuse and the “bottle bill” that will be coming up next session. ...Some of the emails we received on the bottle bill were absolutely masterful. Bottle bill idea revived (Editorial)

August 15, 2011 The late state Rep. Harriet Keyserling of Beaufort, almost 40 years ago, proposed a “bottle bill” for South Carolina. Oregon, in 1971, had passed the nation’s first bottle- and can-deposit law. Keyserling apparently thought the Palmetto State progressive enough to follow suit. This was laughably erroneous thinking.
