SA container recycling rate up 15pc
Return rates for recyclable drink containers have increased by almost 15 per cent in South Australia in the past two years.
The South Australian Government thinks doubling the refund from five to 10 cents in 2008 has been the catalyst.
Environment Minister Paul Caica says a recycling boost has flow-on benefits for the environment and the economy.
"Over one billion containers returned back into the system. That's resulted in another $112 million back into the economy," he said.
"What is shows is that South Australia's recycling processes, our container deposit legislation, is working."
