Bushong Applauds Muna-Barnes Recycling Bill

Guam -  Senator Tina Muña Barnes received a letter from Rear Admiral P.J. Bushong, Commander of Joint Regions Marianas in which the Rear Admiral applauds Senator Muña Barnes’s efforts for incentivizing recycling and indicates a shared interest in “protecting and preserving the environment for all Guam’s citizens and residents.”

This letter brings Senator Muña Barnes closer to the realization of what has been a prolonged attempt to reduce material waste in Guam. With the Rear Admiral’s commitment to support, the Senator will be able to hold a public hearing on the “Bottle Bill,” presumably in the next month.
Senator Muña Barnes has been attempting to implement a Bottle Bill since 2003 when she introduced Bill 124 in the 27th Guam Legislature.

Bill 149 was introduced by Senator Muña Barnes and co sponsored by Senator Frank Aguon on June 12, 2009 and is currently in Senator Rory Respicio’s
committee on Natural Resources.
