Cans of cash for manager
THE Northern Territory Government will have to do a major emu bob to scrounge more than one million cans from their Friday after-work drinks to pay the wages of the new recycling scheme's manager.
An advertisement was placed in Saturday's NT News for the position of project manager of the container deposit scheme.
Starting later in the year, the scheme will give Territorians 10c back for every drink container they take to a collection centre.
The manager's job may give someone the chance to climb the aluminium career ladder to get the $104,730 slab of coin per year.
Legislation passed through Territory Parliament last month to create the deposit scheme.
Environment Minister Karl Hampton said the Government was proud to be the first jurisdiction in 30 years to introduce such crucial environmental legislation.
