Bottle bills enjoy the support of environmental and public interest organizations, sporting enthusiasts, farmers, bicyclists, and many other groups. Poll after poll has found that 75% or more of respondents approve of bottle bills, and that support is strong among all constituencies — regardless of age, income, party affiliation or region of the country.
Bringing the various supporters together and crafting a message that can be heard above the din of daily news and advertising is vital to a winning campaign. A well organized and broad-based coalition is needed to communicate with different sectors of the public, and with the media. Be prepared for a multi-year effort!
